The father, Sampson, has been genetically tested for the complete panel of seven genetic disorders can occur in Labrador Retrievers. The AKC recommends that all responsible Labrador breeders have their dogs tested for to ensure that they don’t pass on any of these defective genes and that their puppies are healthy and free of genetic disorders. All seven of these possible disorders are double recessive, which means that both parents must have the gene in order for their puppy to be affected by the disorder.
The Canine Genetic Testing Report from Animal Genetics has confirmed that Sampson is completely free of all of these genetic disorders, as he doesn’t carry any of these genes, which means all of his puppies are free from any of these disorders as well.
This panel includes; CNM (Centronuclear Myopathy), CY (Cystinuria), DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), EIC (Exercise-Induced Collapse), HHU (Hyperuricosuria), HNPK (Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis) and PKD (Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency).
Labs have a loving, friendly nature. They are great family pets and love everything and everyone. For this reason, they also make great assistance and therapy dogs. They are eager to please and one of the easiest breeds to train.
